The County, 3,735,322 acres (about 6,100 square miles) in extent, is the largest in England, and with its 4.25 million inhabitants, about one tenth of England's population.

Yorkshire can boast a rich heritage in terms of culture, people and some of the most stunning scenery in the country. Cities such as York with its long history, Bradford and its association with the industrial revolution, past and present and Leeds, which is now the second financial centre in England after London.
